The quiet exchanges, the noise of everyone you love in one room, and the hour near the end when nobody is performing any more.

What you can't plan for
Kimberly and Andrew were married under eucalyptus and dried flowers, in front of a small circle of people, with their dog and two matching turquoise rings. No marquee, no three hundred guests, no receiving line.
It rained before the ceremony, in the hour set aside for their portraits. So we went out into it with two clear umbrellas and made the quietest pictures of the day — just the two of them, laughing at each other in the wet, nobody else there to see it. None of that was on the schedule.
You can plan a day down to the minute, and the best twenty seconds of it will still be the thing nobody saw coming.
“He has given us memories we will treasure for a lifetime,” Kimberly wrote afterwards. That's the only review that's ever mattered to me.

The Process
No lighting rigs, no “everyone look at me”, no ten-minute pauses while I set something up. Most of the day I'm a guest who happens to have a camera.
If the light's about to go, or you're both squinting into the sun, I'll say so. Past that, you get on with your wedding and I work around it.
You're in the middle of your own wedding, so you won't see your dad during the speeches, or what your friends did to the dancefloor at eleven. That's most of what I'm doing.
If what you’re after is two hours of formal group shots against a hedge, I’m honestly the wrong photographer — ten minutes of family combinations, gladly, but the rest of the day I’d rather spend on everything else.
Investment
From $2,800
Six hours. A ceremony, portraits and the start of the party — or an elopement from beginning to end.
From $4,500
Eight to ten hours. Getting ready through to the wild part of the night, with none of the day missing in between.

Questions
Two weeks for the full edited gallery. A handful of favourites land in your inbox within two days, because two weeks is a long time to wait when you want to show someone.
Byron Bay is home, but a good chunk of my work happens somewhere else — Italy most often. If your wedding is a flight away, say where and I'll tell you what it adds.
Yes. The three above are starting points, not menus. Most couples move something — more hours, fewer hours, a second shooter for the morning only.
Almost everyone says this, and it usually means “I don't want to be told how to stand.” Fine by me — mostly I won't.

Tell me when and where, and I’ll tell you straight away whether I’m free. No form to fill in — a line or two is plenty.
