One of my first experiments with the silky water effect — and the first time this felt like it could be a profession.

I was travelling in Laos, and this waterfall was one of my first experiments with the silky water effect. I had a little tripod. I remember it wasn't so great, but it did the job.

I remember showing these photos to a guy I met at the accommodation, and he said, “You've sold me on this place — I'm going to go visit.”

These images sparked a sense of understanding — of coming closer to feeling like photography could actually be my profession, somehow.
